A Private Hibachi That Comes to Your Apartment, Brownstone, or Hamptons Rental

Hibachi Guru in New York brings the full teppanyaki experience to your home, rooftop, brownstone, or rental across the five boroughs and the surrounding tri-state area, plus the Hamptons and the North Fork. NYC has more restaurants per square mile than anywhere on the planet, and that's exactly why private dining for 15 people on a Saturday night is its own nightmare. We're the workaround. A chef arrives, sets up wherever you've got the space, and runs a 90-minute live performance with no reservation, no shared dining room, and no Uber surge after dinner.

Service Area Across NYC and the Tri-State

Our chefs travel across the full New York region. In Manhattan we regularly serve the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, Chelsea, the Village (East and West), Tribeca, SoHo, the Lower East Side, the Financial District, and Harlem. In Brooklyn we cover Williamsburg, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Greenpoint, Bed-Stuy, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, and Bushwick. In Queens we serve Long Island City, Astoria, Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, and Flushing. We also cover the Bronx (Riverdale and Fieldston) and Staten Island. Westchester bookings include Scarsdale, Larchmont, Rye, Bronxville, White Plains, and Chappaqua. On Long Island we serve North Shore (Great Neck, Roslyn, Sands Point), Nassau central (Garden City, Manhasset), and out to the Hamptons (Westhampton, East Hampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, Sag Harbor, Montauk, Amagansett) plus the North Fork. New Jersey (Hoboken, Jersey City) has its own dedicated page; see our NJ team.

Where Hibachi Works in NYC

New York's housing stock has more constraints than most markets, and we know the workarounds. Private rooftops and terraces at NYC apartments are some of our most common settings; we set up where the building allows open-flame cooking (always check with your building first; co-op and condo policies vary). Brownstones and townhouses with private backyards or gardens are perfect: Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Harlem, UES, UWS, West Village brownstones, Carroll Gardens, and Prospect Heights all work beautifully. Hamptons and Westchester single-family homes are our easiest setups; lawn, pool deck, or covered patio. Penthouse units and large terrace apartments in Tribeca, FiDi, LIC, and Williamsburg high-rises work when the building permits. Event spaces and corporate offices with rooftop terraces or outdoor courtyards (Tribeca lofts, Brooklyn warehouse venues, Midtown corporate buildings) round out the typical NYC venue mix. Direct ground-level NYC street-side setup is not possible.

Best NYC Events for Private Hibachi

A few event formats hit especially well in New York:

  • Hamptons summer weekends: Friday or Saturday hibachi at a share-house or rental, peak demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Book 4-6 weeks ahead in summer.

  • Brownstone backyard birthdays: 30s, 40s, 50s celebrations at Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights, Harlem, and West Village backyards.

  • Bachelor and bachelorette weekends: SoHo, Williamsburg, and Bushwick group rentals; hibachi as the kickoff dinner before the night out.

  • Corporate team dinners and offsites: financial-services, media, tech, and consulting firms regularly book private hibachi at executive homes, rooftop offices, or co-rented event spaces.

  • Westchester family rehearsal dinners: especially at Scarsdale, Rye, and Bronxville homes for weddings happening across the metro.

  • Holiday and milestone parties: late November and December are heavy, especially for in-home events; book early.

NYC Seasonality and Outdoor Setup

New York's humid continental climate gives us a usable but seasonal outdoor calendar. April through October is comfortable outdoors. July and August are hot and humid; we recommend evening start times (7pm or later), shaded rooftops, and pool-deck setups where available. September and October are our favorite months for NYC rooftops, dry and cool. November through March typically moves indoors; we set up indoors with proper ventilation, in vented garages where available (more common in Westchester and Long Island), or on covered/heated terraces. Hamptons season is summer-weighted but the off-season works for indoor and covered events. Building policies on rooftop fire safety vary significantly; we always confirm before booking.

NYC Hibachi FAQ

Can you serve the Hamptons, the North Fork, and Long Island? Yes. The Hamptons (East, South, Bridge, Westhampton, Sag Harbor, Montauk, Amagansett), the North Fork, Nassau (Great Neck, Roslyn, Manhasset, Garden City), and Westchester (Scarsdale, Rye, Larchmont) are all part of our standard NYC service area. We coordinate logistics for summer Hamptons bookings carefully due to peak demand.

Can you set up on a Manhattan or Brooklyn rooftop? Often yes, with the building's written approval for open-flame cooking. Co-op and condo policies vary widely. Brownstone backyards are typically the easiest NYC setup since they sidestep building-level approvals; rooftop bookings require advance confirmation from your building.

What's the minimum booking? A $600 event minimum applies (roughly 10 guests at the standard $60 per adult rate). Smaller parties are welcome; you cover the difference up to the minimum.

What's Included With Every NYC Booking

Every NYC booking includes a private hibachi chef, the mobile teppanyaki grill, all ingredients, service plates and chopsticks, the 90-minute live show, and full setup and breakdown. Each guest picks two proteins from chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon, scallops, or tofu, with the option to upgrade to filet mignon (+$5) or lobster tail (+$10). Every plate comes with fried rice, hibachi vegetables, a garden salad, and our signature ginger and yum-yum sauces. We accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto, halal, and kosher requests with advance notice.
